Personality.  In a word, that's what Roanoke & the Roanoke Valley is all about!  From the moment you arrive, there's something wonderful about this place.

As you take in our spectacular surroundings, you'll probably agree that it's no surprise that the colonists of the early 18th Century found no reason to "go further west."  Breathtaking vistas abound…and the tranquility of our environment belies the bustling community of almost a quarter of a million residents.

The Valley is anchored by Roanoke, "The Star City of the South," - also fondly known as the Capital of The Blue Ridge.  And with good reason.  Our pristine atmosphere and exceptional cost of living provides an ideal

environment for commerce and industry of all kinds…and a delightful place to just get away from it all (or to it all, if you're so inclined).  Other cities include Salem and the town of Vinton, and the counties of Bedford, Roanoke, Botetourt, Craig, Floyd and Franklin, along with the beautiful and popular area known as Smith Mountain Lake ~ "the Jewel of The Blue Ridge Mountains."

Travelers have easy and quick access to the area Via Interstate 81.  For those in no rush, the Blue Ridge Parkway provides direct access too, and something more:  one of the most scenic drives in the world.  On the other hand, Roanoke's modern airport and full services provides convenient connections to cities around the USA and the world.

Downtown, the famous Historic Market is as popular for locals as it is for visitors.

Neatly tucked between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains, the Roanoke Valley offers all the advantages of life in a metropolis, but in a peaceful setting where the pace is as slow (or fast) as you want it to be.  But don't be deceived:  there is energy here - and lots of it!  And more to do than you can squeeze into a vacation - or a season.  So, whether you're visiting on business for a day, or moving here for the rest of your life, welcome to our Valley.
